Everyone has heard of the “like cats and dogs” saying, which implies that the two sides are simply not getting along. However, this doesn’t have to be the case.
Stories like this one show us how there doesn’t have to be animosity between the two species.
A woman was walking by a river when she noticed a terrifying scene – a cat was drowning!
She hurried to help the cat, but before she could reach it, a stray dog appeared. This was when she decided to film the touching event.
The worried dog rushed to see what was happening. As he leaned down to check up on the distressed animal, the kitty extended her paws toward him as if she were begging him for help.
And the pup seemed to understand just how urgent the situation was.
Without any hesitation, he jumped into the water and rushed to help.
As a true hero, which he most definitely was, the doggo dived underwater, allowing the cat to climb onto his back. The duo struggled a bit, but luckily, the pup proved to be a good swimmer.
In a matter of seconds, he swam close to the shore, serving as a stepping stone for the cat to climb out of the water and into safety.
The doggie followed soon after. Fortunately, both were out on the land before the situation got any worse!
The heartwarming video quickly became viral and circulated on social media. Everyone applauded the brave dog and his heroic feat.
Some people even stated that the cat’s behavior wasn’t as nice as it might seem at first glance!
“The cat tried to scratch that dogs eyes out because of fear and the dog still jumped in to save it. What a heart.”, said one commenter.
However, this also turned into a discussion about the morality of recording animals who were clearly struggling.
It is unknown what happened to the duo from the video. If there is any truth to the aforementioned saying, it’s unlikely they started hanging out.
Still, one thing is certain: The cat will never forget her lionhearted rescuer who risked his life to save hers.
Everyone can take lessons of bravery from this tiny pup!

Even as a young child, she fell in love with everything fluffy – but dogs have a special place in her heart due to her childhood companion, a Corgie named Archie.
Motivated by her experiences and driven by a desire to give back to her four-legged companions, she spends her free time volunteering at a local dog shelter.
