19 Cane Corso Mixes You Do Not Want To Miss

19 Cane Corso Mixes You Do Not Want To Miss

It might be hard to believe just from reading the title above, but there are indeed 19 different Cane Corso mixes for you to consider.

Everyone’s familiar with the Cane Corso, also called the Italian Mastiff, right? They stand out because of their unique looks and the impressive family tree they come from.

This large and commanding breed has a long history that stretches back to Ancient Rome, including roles in both World Wars and as guard dogs in modern times. Known for their unmatched guard dog skills in contemporary times, they stand out among other breeds.

Strong-minded, stubborn temperament and intelligence that can outwit many other dog breeds – are all characteristics that we all attribute to this magnificent breed. This is a breed that not many people can control, but those who do, get a companion like no other.

But you would be surprised how many dog breeds the Cane Corso can mix with. From other Mastiff family breeds to some exotic mixes that you would not believe can be real.

Fascinating combinations that mix up looks, temperament, and energy levels in unique ways are a special trait of this breed. It’s amazing how these mixes bring out such interesting genetic play.

So let’s see what combinations of Cane Corso have become possible today through the time and dedication of experienced breeders. Shall we?

1. Blue Blood Cane Corso – Cane Corso Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog Mix

cane corso alapaha blue blood bulldog mix

The first mix on our list is between Cane Corso and Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog. In most cases, this mix will have the same size as Cane Corso.

This is a very uncommon mix that is very sought after because of the beauty of the puppy that came from these parents. The rarity of such a combination makes it even more special.

2. American Pit Corso – Cane Corso Pitbull Terrier Mix

cane corso pitbull mix

This Cane Corso pitbull mix has some history in itself. Farmers used to breed these two powerful dogs to combine their features such as incredible strength, and serious and majestic stature.

The purpose of these big dogs’ mix was to be working dogs on farms doing multiple jobs such as guarding and hunting dogs with high prey drive.

If you are thinking about adopting this mix of Pitbull you need to take into consideration that these dogs shed immensely so take notice to brush as much as possible.

3. Cane Corxer – Cane Corso Boxer Mix

cane corso boxer mix

This mix is the ultimate working dog prototype. These dogs were a major part of world wars where they were working as carriers for necessities such as medicine, ammunition, and messages. Because of this, they have certainly deserved their medals of honor.

Even today, they are often used as working dogs in the police and military for similar purposes.

But don’t think they cannot be a perfect family dog. With proper training and socialization in the early years, they can be a loving and protective family member who will be great with kids.

Boxer mixes have a really active character that needs plenty of outdoor time, so for families that have a farm or spend a lot of time in nature, this will be a perfect pick.

4. Italian Daniff – Cane Corso Great Dane Mix

cane corso great dane mix

Now let’s talk about one of the mixes that pride themselves in looking tall and as elegant as dogs can be. Let me tell you upfront, this breed is not for small apartments.

The Italian Daniff is a huge dog whose height is around 36 inches and weighs around 130 pounds.

Since both Danes and Corsos are big dogs, their babies will require a large space with a big backyard as well. But don’t be scared of their size because these gentle giants get along very well with family and children in particular, just like their Dane parents.

All these pups want is someone to pet their large head on their lap. Seems like a doggie soulmate, am I right?

    5. Labrador Corso – Cane Corso Labrador Retriever Mix

    cane corso labrador mix

If you ask me, this one is more of a water dweller than a land animal.

Cane Corso lab mix adores water, and thanks to their webbed paws, which they got from their Lab dad/mum, they make excellent swimmers.

Lab Corso is a perfect mix between Labrador Retrievers’ charisma and Cane Corso’s protective mentality.

Since both dogs are very active and need consistent exercise throughout the day, I recommend you adopt them only if you have a house with a yard that has a lot of space.

    6. Rotticorso – Cane Corso Rottweiler Mix

    cane corso rottweiler mix

If you want an obedient soldier in your hands, then this mix is perfect for you.

Rotticorso is very open to training and compliant with your orders, but only if you know what you are doing and if you are experienced with dogs with strong character.

Since these are working dogs, they need orders and jobs to do to be happy and healthy. All this means that it is probably for the best if you have a house with a large yard for them to have a good life.

    7. Cane Corso Pitbull Mix

    cane corso pit bull mix

This is certainly one of the most popular mixes of Cane Corso.

Despite their popularity, these dogs are a tough one to train properly, so socialization must be started when they are born immediately.

Since both breeds are natural guard dogs, their puppy is the result of the best characteristics from this job of both parents.

But still, since the character of Corsos is much gentler, it is a great counterpart to common pitbull hyperactive attentiveness when it comes to strangers.

So the resulting puppy from the Cane Corso Pitbull mix will be a pretty social and protective dog, but with a lot of charisma and cuddles.

    8. German Corso – Cane Corso German Shepherd Mix

    cane corso german shepherd mix

This mix is the most challenging one on this list. Coming from breeds that are the definition of protective guard dogs, the pups will need a lot of proper obedience training.

Both Corsos and German Shepherd have military and police history. So for these matters, it was a good idea to get a mix of their best characteristics into one unstoppable machine with a strong desire to do any task their pet owners give them.

Not to mention how all German Shepherd mixes make great working dogs!

Once you complete the great training these dogs need, you will get a German Shepherd mix that is a working dog as well as a great family member.

This pup will be amazing with your little ones. However, it may not be the best breed for owners that are new to dog training.

Their high intelligence means that they will understand any command you give them. To get to that stage you will have to deal with a lot of stubbornness.

They need a lot of exercise, but what they need more are tasks to challenge their intelligence. Make sure to buy some puzzle dog toys to get their attention and mind going.

All in all, these dogs need work to keep them busy and happy. Otherwise, they can become bored and aggressive.

    9. Cane Corso Bullmastiff Mix

    cane corso bullmastiff mix

One more of these mixes with high IQ is the Cane Corso Bullmastiff mix. This is a well-behaved mixed-breed dog with high energy levels.

Of course, plenty of exercise is imperative to take care of their health, which is not that great, to be honest.

They are prone to conditions that might cause red eyes such as cherry eye

Also, there are other health issues such as hip dysplasia, cherry eye, mange, entropion, and bloat

    10. Cane Corso French Mastiff Mix

cane corso and french mastiff dogs

This breed sure looks menacing to some people, but the truth is that it is one of the most social and charismatic mixed breeds out there.

They enjoy spending time with us humans. With early socialization they can be a perfect family dog.

Even though purebred dogs are prized and sought after on the market, this mix breed seems like an equal deal for a lot cheaper.

    11. Cane Corso Bulldog Mix

    cane corso bulldog mix

These dogs have almost human-like characters, with a wide span of behavior that is caused by a clearly weird mix that is Cane Corso and Bulldog.

Cane Corsos are strong machines that are true working dogs, while Bulldogs can be as stubborn as breeds can be.

The result is a dog that sometimes can be a hyperactive bundle of joy, and other times a temperamental lazy dog that doesn’t feel like doing anything. Seems like it has more human-like characteristics, right?

This complex character seems like a difficult thing to manage sometimes, but aren’t your family members just like that too?

    12. Cane Corso Doberman Mix

    cane corso doberman mix

This is the most independent mix on this list.

Cane Corso and Doberman Pinscher are working dogs by their nature. When these two mix together, they create a puppy that has all the best traits to be a guard dog. It is highly intelligent and curious to explore the world on its own without your attention.

But this of course does not mean that they don’t need any attention to themselves.

The Cane Corso’s Doberman mix needs proper training in order to become obedient and dedicated guards to your family. Don’t take this the wrong way, these dogs tend to be a bit reserved and are not typically fond of strangers.

On the contrary, they are very social energetic pups that love playing with people and hanging around. They are always ready to take care of you in the moments of crisis which is a beautiful trait that we all appreciate.

All this is why Dobercorso makes an ideal mix for you to explore.

    13. Cane Corso Husky Mix

    cane corso husky mix

Here comes the most energetic and hyperactive handsome dog breed on this list.

The Cane Corso Husky mix breed is a perfect pick for your kids’ first pup. These adventurous canines, with a Siberian Husky parent, have sled-pulling in their blood.

This means that they crave physical activity, and with kids, they are going to get plenty of it.

This Husky mix does not need a huge house or a backyard. However, being so adventurous, they need plenty of activities with all the exploring around the city and nature they can have.

Playing ball and catch with them is a delight for your whole family so you can be sure that their positive attitude is going to rub on you too!

    14. Cane Cordle – Cane Corso Poodle Mix

    cane corso poodle mix

Meet the intellectual Cane Corso Poodle mix also known as Canoodle. These dogs are as intelligent as they come, known for their brains and loyalty.

They get this intelligence from their Poodle side of the family. The Cane Corso’s side is credible for them being faithful and obedient to their owners.

To combat their huge energy, make sure to play with them outside and give them enough space to run around and explore. Training these dogs is a walk in the park, both literally and metaphorically.

Since they are an immensely intelligent breed they just need a little socialization, care, and love to be an amazing family member.

Just like other intelligent mixes on this list, Cane Corso Poodle mixes need intellectual challenges to train their brains. Make sure to buy puzzle toys for them to get all the mental and physical exercise they need.

And this is a warning! If you don’t do all these they can become a wrecking ball in your home, destroying magazines, slippers, rugs, and furniture in general. Don’t say I didn’t warn you!

    15. Cane Corso Border Collie Mix

    cane corso border collie mix

Here is another hyperactive mix breed. Meet Corso Collie mix and take them for a run. Yes, I did not say walk but run.

Border Collie’s side of the family means that these are very active dogs with energy bursting from every pore.

Add to that the Cane guard dog’s nature and what you get is a family-oriented dog that is protective and loyal to the bone.

This is quite a large dog mix so they can be a little bit scary to strangers, adding their hyperactive energy to the side.

But with the right training and plenty of toys, you can be sure that they will be an amazing and loving dog.

    16. Cane Corso Golden Retriever Mix

    cane corso golden retriever mix

The main pretty boy in the room, Cane Retriever mix will gather all of the attention with their good looks. They get this pretty pedigree from the Golden Retriever side of course.

Add to that already mentioned Corsos working man attitude, and you will get a balanced dog that gets all the scores on the table.

They adore water which is why you should introduce this as a common form of exercise. Trust me, you will get all of their activity needs in check.

For other activities get them a couple of toys and a big amount of love .With all these, you will make this puppy’s floppy ears as happy as they can be.

    17. Cane Corso Australian Shepherd Mix

cane corso and australian shepherd dog breeds

This large mix breed dog will get you going on more adventures than you ever had in your life. This mix is a very active, loyal, and hardest-working dog in the business!

Shepherds work in the fields and farms as herding dogs. Here, they earn their love and food by gathering sheep and having a lot of fun doing it.

This breed is a perfect addition to the Cane Corso mix because of its affectionate nature that will make any house feel like home.

Cane Corso brings along a large muscular look and strength that can’t be matched. Not to mention all the gorgeous Australian Shepherd colors these pups might inherit!

When you mix these two up in one puppy, the result is a Cane Corso Shepherd mix that has a lot of energy and power to it that needs an immense time outside to let it all out.

This is why they are the perfect farm dogs that will complete all the tasks for which you do not have the energy. After all that work, they will come home and still have enough energy to give you all the love you need from a house pet.

If you keep them in the house for too long they can become aggressive and choked full of energy and frustration. Make sure that you give them a lot, and I really mean a lot, of room to run around and earn their honey.

    18. Cane Corso Akita Mix

    cane corso akita mix

If you would need a living contrast then this hybrid mix is the right example of that phenomenon. With the Cane Corso Akita mix, you can never be sure what you will get.

On the one end of the spectrum, you can get an amazingly calm, loving, gentle dog

On the other end of the spectrum, you can find a serious, distant, and sometimes aggressive dog that will be quite a challenge to raise and train properly to be nice in society.

They are natural-born killers, so beware of their majorly aggressive side taking over in contact with unknown people and animals alike.

Even with serious training, they can be a pretty borderline dog that can change their behavior in an instant.

    19. Cane Corso Boerboel Mix

    cane corso boerboel mix

This is truly a big mixed breed.

Both parent sides of the Boerboel Cane Corso mix are extremely large breeds of dogs. They can be a bit intimidating to unknown people and sometimes their new owners too.

The Cane Corso breed is well-known to all of us for sure, but to some of the people the Boerboel breed can be a bit or most completely unknown.

This breed comes from South Africa. They became widespread through Great Britain’s ships to all of their colonies. Their main role in these colonies was to be a guard dog in diamond mines.

What may be unexpected is that this breed is very intelligent, although it does not make the list of most intelligent dog breeds. Unfairly of course due to them being relatively unknown.

With intelligence on their side, Cane Corso Boerboel mixes are also brave, daring, and majestic in their presence. With all of these positive traits, I have not even got to mention that their Cane Corso side brings a loyal and guarding character which is a definite plus in my book.

You would think that dogs of this large stature would be sluggish and phlegmatic but you could not be farther from the truth.

On the contrary, these dogs are as active as other Cane Corso mixes and will even follow you in outdoor activities such as running, hiking and believe it or not, cycling too.

When it comes to visual characteristics, their large muzzle, strong bite, and huge muscular build will make playtime with them a proper physical exercise for the both of you.

This breed mix is certainly a hidden gem on this list. I recommend every paw lover to explore them more in detail and find out their surprising positive notes.

Things To Take Into Consideration When Adopting Cane Corso Mixes

When considering adopting one of these mixes, bear in mind that the exotic traits of both parents may not always blend smoothly. This means that Cane Corso mixes can come with many health problems and issues.

This is why their expected life span can vary a lot depending on parent breeds that will be thrown in the mixing pot of genetics.

Putting all of the visual and personality characteristics aside, what is consistent with all versions of mixes is the Cane Corso parent side influence. It ensures that they will always be faithful to you and your family, guarding you through all of the trials and tribulations until the end.

For some people, the Cane Corso breed is a little too much of a responsibility and obligation to take care of for more than a decade.

But by exploring all of these mixes you will certainly find a mix of the breeds that fits you and your family’s needs and character.

So, that is why you should look into all of these breeds individually and explore them in detail until you find your match and your soulmate for what is a long period of life.

    Conclusion

As you can see, Cane Corso mixing with other dogs can come in a wide array of forms. In fact, there is an even wider palette of character and energy, with so many color schemes.

Sometimes, you may not recognize the Cane Corso parent breed in them!

More often than not, the American Kennel Club does not recognize these mixes, as they do not accept mixed breeds, rather than because they are dangerous.

All in all, these considerations are less important than the love they will give you if you give them a little bit of love and attention.
