29 Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Mixes For Small Apartments

29 Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Mixes For Small Apartments

Are you bored of the same old breeds but would like a pup that’s suitable for apartments? Then a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel mix might be the right one for you!

The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is one of the most popular small dog breeds. Unfortunately, it is also prone to numerous health problems, which is why many potential owners decide against buying one.

Fortunately, there are many Cavvy mixes that also make great companions, but without all the issues that plague their Spaniel parents.

Here is a list of some of my favorite Cavalier King Charles Spaniel mixes – 29 of them, to be precise:

Table of contents show

1. Aussalier (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel x Australian Shepherd)

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel x Australian Shepherd

The first on our list is Aussalier, the crossbreed of our favorite Cavvy and Australian Shepherd.

This doggie has one thing in common with all other Cavalier King Charles Spaniel mixes – it is absolutely adorable.

At the same time, it has many traits of Australian Shepherd mixes – most notably, the high energy levels.

Merle coats are also common, given how this is one of the most notable Aussie colors

2. King Charles Yorkie (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel x Yorkshire Terrier)

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel x Yorkshire Terrier

The next on my list is King Charles Yorkie, a small doggie that is a perfect blend of star qualities and feisty temperament.

This adorable pup is one of the smallest dogs on this list, especially if one of its parent breeds is a Toy Yorkie.

Just be careful about leaving King Charles Yorkies alone for too long – this dog is prone to separation anxiety. If you’re working long office hours, this might not be the right pup for you.

3. Golden Cavalier (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel x Golden Retriever)

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel x Golden Retriever

If you’re looking for a great companion dog but don’t have too much space, then a Golden Cavvy is the right pet for you!

Almost no dog is friendlier than a purebred Golden Retriever, except maybe a Golden Cavalier. This pooch has the best of both worlds, which includes the most social personality you’ve ever seen.

While somewhat larger than other Cavalier King Charles Spaniel mixes, the Golden Cavvy is still suitable for apartments as it’ll want nothing more than to spend the day in your lap.

Just remember that even this little bundle of joy needs daily walks, especially if your living area is fairly small. All Golden Retriever mixes are prone to obesity, so this is something to be mindful of.

4. Cavador (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel x Labrador Retriever)

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel x Labrador Retriever

What’s better than a Labrador Retriever or a Cavvy? The Cavador, of course!

Cavadors can come in many colors, just like their Labrador Retriever parents. However, when they are golden, they can be confused with Golden Cavvies, especially if their coats are on the longer side.

The Cavador is a loving dog suitable for all sorts of families. Just look at that adorable face!

5. Cavachin (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel x Japanese Chin)

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel x Japanese Chin

The Cavachin is a Cavvy mix that’s on the smaller side.

The good news? This pup is one of the calmest lap dogs you’ll find. They are amazing for anyone looking for a cuddle partner.

The bad news? They are terrible guard dogs – and I do mean terrible. They’ll simply befriend anyone who enters your home, no questions asked!

Also, they rarely bark, which is a pro if you’re living in a complex building.

    6. Cavapoo (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel x Poodle)

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel x Poodle

Do you want to get a Cavvy crossbreed but are worried because of your dog allergies? Cavapoo might be the right pup for you, then!

Just like most Poodle mixes, Cavapoo is considered hypoallergenic (although don’t let this phrase fool you; no dog is truly hypoallergenic) and suitable for sensitive people with breathing problems.

Also, it can come in different sizes, depending on the size of its Poodle parent. However, most breeders will combine Cavvies with a toy or miniature Poodle to get a small dog.

    7. Cav-A-Jack (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel x Jack Russell Terrier Mix)

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel x Jack Russell Terrier Mix

Cav-a-Jacks are great pups for anyone leading an active lifestyle. These little misbehaving pups will want to run around all day long!

Due to their Terrier genes, Cav-A-Jacks have a high prey drive, so they might not be the best option for owners with smaller pets. Don’t let their size fool you – they can be great hunters!

    8. King Schnauzer (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel x Schnauzer)

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel x Schnauzer

Despite its name, the King Schnauzer doesn’t have to be a large pup. In fact, it’s usually the offspring of a Miniature Schnauzer to retain a purebred Cavalier’s tiny size.

If you’re lucky enough, your King Schnauzer might have the stereotypical Schnauzer mustache. How cute is that?

Also, these dogs make good watchdogs. They will bark at anything and anyone!

    9. Pugalier (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel x Pug)

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel x Pug

The Pugalier is a friendly and loyal dog that’s suitable for smaller children and other pets. It’s a rather calm canine that will spend most of its day snoring, so you don’t have to worry about spending too much time providing it with exercise.

Because of this, the Pug Cavalier King Charles mix is one of the best dogs you can get if you live in a small apartment.

Just keep in mind that this dog is likely to have a brachycephalic face, which brings a plethora of health problems to the table.

    10. Cavachon (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel x Bichon Frise)

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel x Bichon Frise

The Cavachon is one of the most affectionate dogs you can get. This sweet pup will be as loveable as one can be!

These pups have gorgeous coats that will mostly be white, but a few other colors are possible.

Also, they won’t shed, making them suitable for people with dog allergies.

And do you see just how beautiful they are?

    11. Cava Inu (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel x Shiba Inu)

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel x Shiba Inu

These feisty little pups are a perfect combination of good looks and sassy temperament.

They are not as social as most other Cavalier mixes and can be aloof towards strangers.

Also, their intelligence is unmatched, so make sure to provide them with plenty of mental stimulation. Otherwise, you might end up with a depressed Cava Inu with behavioral issues.

    12. Cavapom (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel x Pomeranian)

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel x Pomeranian

The Cavapom is one of the most popular Cavalier King Charles Spaniel mixes out there. Many people even think they are purebred dogs, but no kennel club accepts them.

These little furballs have glorious coats that do require some additional care. Also, they can shed moderately, but this isn’t a big issue.

Finally, they are not good for families with little kids, as they can be rather possessive and jealous. Also, they are huge barkers.

    13. Cockalier (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel x Cocker Spaniel)

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel x Cocker Spaniel

This is one of the most famous Cocker Spaniel mixes in the US – and beyond.

Combining the best features from two Spaniel breeds, the Cockalier closely resembles its Cavalier King Charles Spaniel parent but without most of its health problems.

Of course, some minor issues, such as hip dysplasia, are still possible. Still, generally, this is a healthy dog, which is a perfect alternative for anyone who would want a Cavvy but is afraid of the breed’s bad reputation when it comes to its health.

    14. Cavottish (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel x Scottish Terrier)

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel x Scottish Terrier

The Cavottish is a great choice for those who love the Spaniel’s luscious appearance but would want a more active and healthy dog.

Due to its Terrier heritage, this pup has a high prey drive and much higher activity levels. Still, they are not as challenging to keep as purebred Scottish Terriers, which would require extensive workout sessions.

Not to mention how adorable they look!

    15. Cavestie (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel x West Highland White Terrier)

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel x West Highland White Terrier

This is yet another Cavalier Terrier mix, and it is one of the cutest doggies you’ll ever run into.

With its white coat and cute little mustache, this smart breed will capture the hearts of any human who crosses its path.

Also, it doesn’t have as high a prey drive as many other Terrier mixes, making it more suitable for homes with small pets.

    16. Crested Cavalier (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel x Chinese Crested)

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel x Chinese Crested

Now, this is a mix that stands out from the rest!

The Chinese Crested is known for being a hairless dog breed, and a Crested Cavalier might inherit this trait.

However, most Cavalier Chinese Crested mixes will retain the hair on their faces, ears, muzzles, and paws. Some might be entirely covered with hair. With such unique genetics, you can never be certain what the litter will look like!

    17. Dashalier (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel x Dachshund)

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel x Dachshund

There is something extremely irresistible about dogs with short legs, and Dachshunds take the lead.

A Dashalier, on the other hand, will combine this cuteness factor with Cavalier’s beauty, providing some of the most adorable pups you’ll ever see.

Also, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel’s calm temperament will mellow down the Dachshund’s activity requirements, making it more suitable for small apartments.

    18. Cava-Corgi (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel x Pembroke Welsh Corgi)

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel x Welsh Corgi

The Cava-Corgis might not look like fancy mixes, but don’t let their appearance fool you. These are intelligent dogs that know what they want, and they want it now.

Also, this is one of the healthiest mutts on my list, which is always a plus, especially when talking about the offspring of a fragile pup such as the Cavvy.

And just look at its short stature!

    19. Beaglier (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel x Beagle)

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel x Beagle

At a second glance, you might notice that Beagles and Cavaliers have plenty of similarities. They both have long bodies with floppy ears and multi-colored coats that even typically come in similar shades! Although, Beagles have a few rather unique coat colors you may not have heard about.

The Beaglier is a sniffer, and it will want to chase after every squirrel and inspect every hole in the park.

If I must say so, this trait only adds to its charm.

    20. Pekalier (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel x Pekingese)

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel x Pekingese

If you have a thing for dogs with an underbite and a flat face, the Pekalier is the right pet for you!

Pekingese is a small breed known for being loved by royalty in ancient China, and it still behaves like it lives in a castle.

The Pekalier has inherited this diva-like behavior. Your pup will be the real boss of the house and not you! It’s a good thing this pooch is so cute.

    21. Cava-Tzu (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel x Shih Tzu)

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel x Shih Tzu

Yet another pup with a royal background, the Cava-Tzu is a unique Shi Tzu mix that has stolen the hearts of anyone who has set their eyes upon this small breed.

The Cava-Tzus develop close bonds with their owners, and they can be extremely affectionate. They don’t require too much exercise and generally won’t shed.

However, separation anxiety is a huge problem with these pups, so make sure there is always someone who can provide them with some attention and a cuddle time.

    22. King Pin (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel x Miniature Pinscher)

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel x Miniature Pinscher

Do you want a dog that will look like a fluffy miniature Doberman Pinscher? Meet King Pin!

The King Pin is a beautiful dog with signature Doberman markings on their face – an inheritance from their Min Pin parent.

Keep in mind that this is not a Doberman mix. In other words, it won’t be a good watchdog, even though it might look like one. Fortunately, they are big barkers, so they might alert you if a stranger comes in – as long as they aren’t longing for a good petting session.

    23. Chilier (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel x Chihuahua Mix)

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel x Chihuahua Mix

Forget about all the large mixes. Any Chihuahua mix is a force to be reckoned with, and you need to take some serious training notes if you want to keep this dog’s temperament at bay.

Fortunately, the Cavalier’s mellow temperament will calm down Chi’s feistiness, but only for a small percentage.

It’s a good thing these pups are so small. Some of these pups will weigh no more than five pounds!

    24. Cavalon (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel x Papillon)

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel x Papillon

The Cavalon is a beautiful dog if I’ve ever seen one. It takes the best features of both parent breeds and combines them in a well-rounded dog that looks like it just came out of a fashion magazine.

This doggie is suitable for a wide variety of families due to its calm temperament, small size, and friendly nature.

Just be careful with small children who don’t know how to play with tiny pups. They might accidentally hurt this gentle dog during a playtime session.

    25. Cav-A-Moo (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel x American Eskimo)

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel x American Eskimo

The Cav-A-Moo isn’t as small as other crossbreeds on this list, but that doesn’t make it less worthy.

This is a small to medium-sized intelligent dog that can vary in looks depending on the specific combination of genes. Some are white snowballs that can get lost in the winter. Others have short coats with a parti-colored pattern typical for Cavaliers

One thing is certain: They will make amazing pets everyone will love!

    26. Cav-A-Malt (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel x Maltese)

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel x Maltese

The Maltese is known for its long, white, silky coats. As a result, the Cav-A-Malt will also have luscious hair that will make everyone envious.

However, they need plenty of grooming to prevent mats, although they are not huge shedders.

Still, their best feature is their calm and sweet temperament. They’ll want nothing more than to cuddle in your lap all day long.

    27. French Cavalier (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel x French Bulldog)

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel x French Bulldog

    Bonjour!

This is a crossbreed of a short-legged and snotty French Bulldog and elegant Cavvy, making it a rather unexpected mix.

Somehow, though, the French Cavalier is a gorgeous doggie with a flat nose and a heart of gold. Just look at that cute face. What’s not to love!?

    28. King Bully (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel x American Bully)

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel x American Bully

There’s something so unique about the American Bully mixes, and the King Bully is no different.

This dog is a perfect combination of strength and beauty. However, its appearance is challenging to predict, as the two parent breeds are so different!

One thing is certain: This is a dog that will be loved by anyone. It is one of the friendliest and sweetest pups I’ve ever stumbled upon!

    29. King Chow (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel x Chow Chow)

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel x Chow Chow

The final Cavalier King Charles Spaniel mix on this list is King Chow, a fluffy medium-sized dog you won’t believe is real.

Chow Chows are known for their long, lion-mane-like coats and unique blue tongues. King Chows with this rare trait are some of the most expensive dogs on this list!

Just be mindful that this isn’t a good dog for beginners. The King Chows can be territorial and dominant, and it takes some skill to train them properly.
