What’s cuter than a Chihuahua? A Chihuahua mix!
Sure, purebred dogs are ‘the real deal’, but they are predictable, and you’ve likely seen most of them so many times that it’s no longer interesting.
Being a crossbreed adds another layer of fun to these adorable pups, especially if the characteristics of both breeds are rather unique.
Here are some of the most popular Chihuahua mixes – pictures included!
1. Chi-Apso (Chihuahua x Lhasa Apso)
We’ll start with this rather spunky Chihuahua Lhasa Apso mix, which is as loveable as one can be. One might even confuse this pup with a Teddy Bear toy!
While small, this pooch will still be larger than a purebred Chihuahua, which just means more to love!
2. Cheeks (Chihuahua x Pekingese)
If you’re one of those people who just loves tiny dogs with underbites, sweet Cheeks is the right mix breed for you! This adorable little pooch with floppy ears leaves no one indifferent.
3. Chiweiler (Chihuahua x Rottweiler)
Chiweiler is a one-of-a-kind mix. Who would’ve guessed these two parent breeds go so well together?
Due to its somewhat feisty temperament, this dog does best with older children who know how to behave around dogs and to give them some privacy when needed.
4. Chiweenie (Chihuahua x Dachshund)
Behold, the mighty Chiweenie! Or at least this is how this crossbreed would like you to talk to him.
This is an energetic dog that will inherit all the best traits from both breeds. He’ll be short, small, active, and very talkative! Not to mention entirely charming!
5. Chussel (Chihuahua x Brussels Griffon)
This hybrid dog was developed in Belgium in the early 21st century, making it one of the newest mixes on our list.
Due to its small size and calm personality, it’s a great choice for apartment living.
While the appearance of any crossbreed can greatly vary, Chussel is likely to have a wiry coat. Isn’t it amazing?
6. ShiChi (Chihuahua x Shih Tzu)
ShiChi is yet another Chihuahua mix with an underbite, making it as cute as can be.
Just remember – Shih Tzus are royal dogs that are used to being spoiled. Combine this with Chi’s already feisty personality, and you might get a dog that is as handful as it is small.
7. Schipper Chi (Chihuahua x Schipperke)
Shipper Chi is one of the less common Chihuahua mixes, but it’s still absolutely adorable. They are lively and intelligent, although a bit stubborn like their Chi parents. Oh, and look how cute they are with their shaggy coats!
8. ChiPoo (Chihuahua x Poodle)
ChiPoo is one of the famous Poodle mixes that also happens to be half-Chihuahua. These dogs are extremely intelligent, so they are much easier to train than regular Chis. Oh, and not to mention their hypoallergenic coats!
The best part of it all is that most of the best Poodle haircuts will also look amazing on the Chihuahua Poodle mix.
9. Chipit (Chihuahua x Pittie)
Chipits are cute dogs with large heads and the friendliest personalities possible. Their appearance can vary slightly, depending on the type of Pitbull dog that’s included in the mix.
One thing’s certain – this will be a colorful dog that will love its owners to the moon and back!
10. Aussie-Chi (Chihuahua x Aussie)
One of my favorite Australian Shepherd mixes is Aussie-Chi, the Australian Shepherd Chihuahua mix.
If you look at the Australian Shepherd growth chart, it’s easy to see how this mix is likely to be a medium to small-sized dog.
Aussie-Chi requires lots of exercise, as this is a high-energy dog, so it might not be for everyone. But it’s cute, so you’ll forgive it.
11. Cheenese (Chihuahua x Havanese)
Say “Cheenese!”
This is a combination of two of the most loveable dog breeds out there. It’s no surprise that it’s one of the best-looking pups you’ve ever seen!
12.Chorkie (Chihuahua x Yorkie)
Chorkie is a crossbreed of a Chihuahua and a Yorkshire Terrier, and it captures the most beautiful traits of both breeds.
This is an extremely small mix. Standing at a height of 9 inches at most, you can easily lose this dog among household items!
13. Chimo (Chihuahua x American Eskimo)
The Chimo combines the stubborn nature of its Chihuahua parents and the friendliness of the American Eskimo, mellowing down their personality traits into a more well-rounded pet.
Although, with such a cute face, I think you would forgive it all the bad behaviors!
14. American Bullhuahua (Chihuahua x American Bully)
The American Bullhuahua is similar to the Chipit, but even more affectionate and muscular.
And considering all the possible Chi and American Bully colors, the coat shade combinations are endless!
15. Chizer (Chihuahua x Schnauzer)
No pet is more loved than a Miniature Schnauzer – except, perhaps, a Chizer, a Chihuahua Schnauzer mix.
Considering that it looks like a Chihuahua with a mustache, it’s easy to see why Chizers have the X factor when it comes to dogs.
16. Affenhuahua (Chihuahua x Affenpinscher)
Affenhuahuas, like other Chihuahua mixes, are not accepted by the American Kennel Club (AKC) or other major kennel clubs – but if you’d ask them, they’d have a lot to say on that topic. These pups have a personality that’s larger than life, and they’ll bark to show it.
17. Chow Chi (Chihuahua x Chow Chow)
Have you ever seen a Chihuahua with a blue tongue? I am sure you haven’t, but maybe you can see a Chow Chi with one!
Even with a regular tongue, these doggies look entirely gorgeous!
18. Boston Huahua (Chihuahua x Boston Terrier)
The Boston Huahua is a friendly dog that can make you happy all day long – as long as you give them just a bit of dog food, some treats, and lots of love.
19. French Bullhuahua (Chihuahua x Frenchie)
This compact dog is known under many names: French Bullhuahua, Frencheenie, Mexican Frenchie, Chibull… But it will probably respond to “Hey, cutie!” just as well!
20. Chi-Chon (Chihuahua x Bichon Frise)
This pooch looks like a white Chihuahua with long hair. Or a bit grumpier Bichon Frise with less hair. It all depends on genetics.
Either way, Chi-Chon is an adorable mix that you’ll fall in love with!
21. Golden-Chi (Chihuahua x Golden Retriever)
You’ve heard of Goldendoodles, but have you heard of Golden-Chis? This adorable Chihuahua Golden Retriever mix is as friendly as a dog with a Chihuahua as its parent can be!
Golden-Chis are a bit larger dogs than most other Chihuahua mixes, but they are still small enough to be a great fit for most apartments.
22. Malchi (Chihuahua x Maltese)
The Malchi is yet another one of those tiny toy mixes that is mostly known for its white coat color – although, due to Chi’s colorful genetics, they can come in a few more shades.
This is a fragile dog that requires lots of care and attention. It’s a good thing he is absolutely worth it!
23. Chin-wa (Chihuahua x Japanese Chin)
This is a somewhat different Chihuahua mix with a distinctive and ancient heritage.
Chin-wa is a tiny dog that rarely weighs more than 11 lbs. Their coats can be long or short, although they usually have fluffy ears. And look at their curled tails!
24. Scotchi (Chihuahua x Scottish Terrier)
Are you up for a glass of Scotchi? This gorgeous black Chi mix is so tiny it can fit in a glass! Okay, not really, but it is still among the smallest cross breeds you can find.
The mustache might make you confuse Scotchis with Chizers, but the predominant black color and a smaller size should be the main giveaway of what Chihuahua mix you’re looking at.
25. Chi-Heeler (Chihuahua x Blue Heeler)
This Australian Cattle Dog Chihuahua mix is one of the most beautiful crossbreeds I have ever seen.
Just keep in mind that there are a few health concerns these dogs might get, such as color dilution alopecia that’s connected with the blue dilution gene. There is also a possibility of getting double merle dogs, and they come with an abundance of their own issues.
26. Chug (Chihuahua x Pug)
If you are a fan of brachycephalic dogs, then Chihuahua Pug mix is the right pet for you!
A dog with an appearance that’s just as unique as its name, Chug is a toy dog with growing popularity. This shouldn’t be a surprise, considering its loveable personality and quirky looks.
27. Shepchi (Chihuahua x German Shepherd)
While Shepchis are not exactly guard dogs one would want for their home, they are still protective and affectionate. They have the courage of a large dog but packed in a small body. This makes for an adorable combination!
28. Boxachi (Chihuahua x Boxer)
Now, this is a crossbreed you likely never expected!
Boxachis are medium-sized dogs with some of the most charming looks you’ve ever seen. They look like miniature Boxer dogs but with a pointed muzzle and apple-shaped heads!
Their sassy personality will leave everyone in the park talking!
29. Chi-Whip (Chihuahua x Whippet)
No, this isn’t an exotic type of whipped cream, but the name of a Chihuahua Whippet mix.
In general, these pups look like somewhat bigger Chihuahuas, although they are far from large.
Just don’t leave them alone for a long time, as these doggies are prone to separation anxiety.
30. Chi-Dobe (Chihuahua x Doberman)
Are you looking for a guard dog that doesn’t require a huge backyard or a backyard whatsoever? Chi-Dobe is a pet for you!
Most Chi-Dobes come in signature Doberman colors, although a few other shades are also possible.
Just don’t confuse them with purebred Miniature Pinschers, as the two are not the same.
31. Chi-Spaniel (Chihuahua x Cocker Spaniel)
No, this isn’t what happens when you combine Lady and the Tramp, although they might look the part.
Chi-Spaniels are little fluff balls filled with love and sass. Unlike many purebred Chihuahuas, Chi-Spaniels are great with small children, so they are an amazing choice for large families.
32. Chorgi (Chihuahua x Corgi)
Now, this is a fiery combination that not everyone can deal with.
Chorgis are a combination of two stubborn dogs that love to (verbally) fight. Expect them to bark all the time while trying to nip everyone’s heels!
Still, no one can deny they look absolutely beautiful.
33. Chisenji (Chihuahua x Basenji)
No, this isn’t a toy Basenji you’re looking at, but a Chisenji – a tiny Chihuahua Basenji mix. Still, some irresponsible breeders might try to sell it as a purebred Basenji that is in a smaller size.
Fortunately, after looking at so many Chihuahua mix pictures, I am certain you can already tell the difference.
34. Toxirn (Chihuahua x Cairn)
The Toxirn is one of the most popular Chihuahua mixes, although I am certain many dog owners have never heard of it.
The Cairn’s fun personality adds some looseness to the Chihuahua’s loyal temperament, making this a rather adaptable and friendly dog. Also, chances are pretty high your Toxirn will be a couch potato, which is always a good thing for apartment living.
35. Cheagle (Chihuahua x Beagle)
Not many people would think about the existence of a Beagle Chihuahua mix, considering just how different the two parent breeds are.
Still, the Cheagle is one of the best crossbreeds out there, no matter if you’re looking for a working dog or a family pet. Just keep those treats out of reach, as the Cheagle will sniff and find them all!
36. Chimation (Chihuahua x Dalmatian)
No, this isn’t the name of some Pokemon or Digimon, but the cutest Chihuahua Dalmatian mix you can find.
What’s better than a spotted Chihuahua with a bold personality? I’m waiting for the answer.
37. Labrahuahua (Chihuahua x Labrador)
With a name like this, you cannot get a boring dog.
Labrahuahua is one of the rarer Labrador Retriever mixes you can find, despite it being a perfect package of friendliness and a compact size. Hopefully more people will learn about this pooch so it can become more widespread.
38. Chion (Chihuahua x Papillon)
The Chion, also known as Pap-Chi, Papihuahua, and Chi-a-Pap, is even more beautiful than a purebred Papillon – if that’s even possible.
These pups have inherited the best qualities of both parent breeds, making them petite, loyal, and playful.
39. Chipin (Chihuahua x Miniature Pinscher)
Many people consider Miniature Pinschers to be a miniature version of Doberman Pinschers. On the other hand, Chipins look like miniature versions of Miniature Pinschers.
Does this make Chipins double miniature Dobermans? Who knows, but one thing I am sure of is that they are absolutely delightful!
40. Husky-Chi (Chihuahua x Husky)
Get your brushes ready – this is probably the most shedding dog on the list. Sure, its small size will help control the shedding amount to an extent, but you can still expect to spend hours a month cleaning loose hairs.
41. Chi-Dane-Dane (Chihuahua x Great Dane)
This is a mix you probably never expected to see.
Chi-Dane-Dane is a rather weird crossbreed, as it combines one of the smallest dog breeds with one of the largest ones.
As you might’ve guessed, it’s extremely rare. Some people even think this Chihuahua mix is a myth and that it doesn’t really exist.
Between us, I wouldn’t be surprised at anything and I do believe you can find these pups. Whether you should look for them in real life is a whole different story.
42. Silkyhuahua (Silky Terrier x Chihuahua)
Also known as the Silky-Chi, this is likely the softest crossbreed out there. The silk-like coat of a Silky Terrier is non-shedding and velvety to the touch, and Silkyhuahuas are likely to inherit it.
Just remember that, despite their cute appearances, Silkyhuahuas are part Terrier, part Chihuahua, which means you need to get ready for a lot of barking and arguing.
43. Rat-Cha (Chihuahua x Rat Terrier)
The Rat Terrier Chihuahua mix is one of a few dogs that deserve the ‘teacup’ prefix. These pups are so tiny that a cat might seem huge next to them!
Their size makes them rather fragile, so they are not the best choice for children who don’t know how to handle small dogs with care. However, they love company, so they can be an amazing choice for large families.
44. Borderhuahua (Chihuahua x Border Collie)
If you’re looking for a tiny dog that is as active as possible, then Borderhuahua is the right choice for you! These dogs need plenty of play sessions to live the best life possible, but you don’t need to spend hours walking them, as might be the case with purebred Collies.
This is also one of the smartest dogs, as it is likely to inherit Border Collie’s high intelligence levels. This means training them will be a breeze!
45. Pomchi (Chihuahua x Pomeranian)
A Pomeranian Chihuahua mix is yet another fluffy pup that will make you say “awww” the moment you see it.
Just prepare yourself. Pomchis are going to be the bosses of your house, especially if you don’t set clear boundaries right away. They are dogs that look like lions and think they are the kings of you all, so you’ll need to prove them wrong.
46. Jack-Chi (Chihuahua x Jack Russell Terrier)
Jack-Chis are probably the most active dogs you’ll ever find. These dogs will want to run around all the time, jump on things, and keep you awake at night – and this is precisely why we love them so much.
Just look at this adorable JackChi! How can you not be smitten by this endearing face?!
47. Chi Chi (Chihuahua x Chinese Crested)
No, this punk-looking doggie isn’t a Chihuahua with some weird haircut. This is a Chi Chi, a Chihuahua Chinese Crested mix.
Chinese Crested are some of the most famous hairless dogs. When you combine them with hairy Chihuahuas, you get this funny-looking pup. Everyone will laugh at how gorgeous he is, while he will probably want to bite everyone’s head off!
I’m kidding – but these are temperamental dogs that might be wary of strangers, so don’t let their small size fool anyone.
48. Taco Terrier (Chihuahua x Fox Terrier)
¡Yo quiero un taco terrier!
Just look at the adorable face of a Toy Fox Terrier and Chihuahua mix. Need I say more?
49. Shiba-Chi (Chihuahua x Shiba-Inu)
Shiba-Inus are cute on their own, so when you add some Chihuahua genes to the mix, you’ll get a Shiba-Chi, one of the most handsome dogs you’ve ever seen!
These dogs adore their family members and have a strong dislike of strangers. They can be very jealous, so early socialization is crucial if you want to keep your guests’ ears safe from all that barking and growling.
50. Chilier (Chihuahua x Cavalier King Charles Spaniel)
Just like many Cavalier King Charles Spaniel mixes, Chilier was also designed to help reduce some of the numerous health conditions this breed is prone to.
As Cavaliers have the highest rate for many cardiovascular diseases, breeders have started crossbreeding them with healthier dogs, hoping to reduce the chances of these pups becoming sick.
And they’ve succeeded, as Chilier is a rather healthy dog that’s prone to just a few problems, as most toy breeds are. Having good looks is just a bonus.
51. Italian Greyhuahua (Chihuahua x Italian Greyhound)
I’ve saved this fast dog for the last!
Italian Greyhounds or Iggies are smaller cousins of large Greyhounds, but they are almost just as quick. This is why many people used them as racing dogs.
While Italian Greyhuahuas aren’t likely to be used in the ring, they are still active dogs that need plenty of walks and running sessions. So, while they love being in apartments, make sure to provide them with enough exercise to keep them healthy.
Which of these Chihuahua mixes is your favorite, and would you keep some of them in your apartment? Let me know!
