5 Reputable Poodle Rescues California Has That You Need to Check Out

California has a large Poodle culture, so it is no wonder that there are so many Poodle Rescues California has for you to find your new bundle of joy.

Even though there are a lot of Poodle owners in Cali, many Poodles end up in danger of becoming homeless due to certain circumstances.

There are many reasons why this is becoming prevalent, such as divorces, moving, or the difficult health of the owner

All these are the reasons these helpless Poodle dogs end up being neglected, abandoned, or even abused.

That is why there are many dedicated people who decide to become volunteers in rescue organizations that devote their time and effort to rescue dogs.

These foster programs are run often by poodle breeders who feel an obligation to help adorable rescues become adoptable dogs.

Best Poodle Rescues In California

The best-kept secret in the dog world is that Poodles are one of the most intelligent breeds out there.

We often just see the facade of these misunderstood dogs well-groomed dogs that have extravagant haircuts but they are very easy to train to the point that they will understand almost any order you give them.

But these pretty boys need physical and mental activity so make sure to give them your attention and love because in another case they can get a little bit grumpy for your taste.

But fear not because your effort will be returned with immense love, loyalty, and overall best friend you could ever dream of.

Let’s see what popular locations for pet adoption you can go to rescue a Poodle and make your happy home today!

1. Poodle Club of America Rescue Foundation

This Foundation is specialized and devoted solely to rescuing Poodles. They give them all of the veterinary exams, immunizations, spaying, and neutering they need. They are trained in the volunteers to see that they have anger issues or any behavior problems in general.

When new dog owners become interested in a particular dog, there is a screening period to see if the new owner and Poodle will click and become comfortable with each other. If the unfortunate rejection happens they will accept the dog back without any problems.

Because of this, in this organization, volunteers are doing their best to connect you with the right dog that will be your new best friend. But you of course have to earn this since you are not buying a dog from a compound.

Application is an ultimatum, an interview will be organized, and a home check to make sure that this is the easiest way of knowing the dog is going to a safe and loving home.

But Poodles are a smart dog so they can sense if the owner is going to be right for them so this process is a bit easier than with other breeds.

NorCal Poodle Rescue (NCPR) is located in Clayton, California. This is an organization with a lot of history dating back to 1985.

Their owner is a standard poodle breeder Patty Moulthrop of Blue Skies Standard Poodles who started this organization in Lafayette, California.

The philosophy of this organization consists of helping people enrich their lives with a Poodle that is going to find a new safe space for living. The fact that every year they manage to adopt 140 Poodles in new homes says it all.

They specialize in Poodle breeds regardless if they are toy, standard, mixed breeds, or miniature. Dogs get all of the necessary veterinary needs such as vaccinations, deworming, microchipping, spaying, and neutering.

When it comes to social needs, proper training is done to make sure that once abandoned Poodles get reintroduced into a better, humane society.

Limited resources are the only obstacle in the way of them helping all of the abandoned dogs in the Northern California area. This is why this organization took a brave step to foster only the most difficult cases with long-term illnesses and behavior problems.

In 2011 they managed to get a new space that allowed them to increase the number of Poodles they could rescue. This made it possible to provide more specialized care for the Poodles in desperate need and to have better management of their boarding costs.

Since they have this extensive expertise in this breed they are one of the organizations that have a pedigree of Adoption Guarantee Organization.

Only dogs that are hopeless cases are given euthanasia procedures and that only happens if dog health problems become impossible to solve and the dog is in serious pain. All of the shelter and rescue records are public and available on an annual basis.

    5. Dogs Without Borders

Dogs without Borders organization is located in Los Angeles, California. Even though this organization does not specialize in the Poodle breed, they are an interesting case worth mentioning for their honorable cause.

This rescue doesn’t just rescue Poodles but all dogs of all breeds and they even act on a global scale which is a rare case. The organization started in 2006 and since then they managed to rescue and adopt a mind boggling 6000 dogs

No dog is left behind so dogs regardless of their country of origin will be helped. Also, they offer dogs of all ages: puppies, adults, and seniors alike so you can even get a trained dog that needs no training.

Of course, from the organization, you can expect that dogs are going to get all of the possible veterinary tests, and scans that are available in this day and age. Spaying and neutering will also be done so dogs do not get cranky in their new families.

What also differentiates this organization is that regardless of where you live and where you are going to take your dog, they will always be there to offer you support and advice throughout the dog’s life.

This way they are ensuring that dogs will live to old age and that they live a happy life in a loved family.

Since the organization does not have a central location with the dog compound all this is possible through the huge number of volunteers that care for the dogs until they get picked and adopted.
