Are you looking to become a Boerboel owner? Then, what you need is to find the best Boerboel breeders in Australia!
Boerboels might not be as popular a dog breed as Labradors or German Shepherds – but I find this to be unfair. Anyone who has had the possibility to meet this confident dog knows what I’m talking about!
They are one of the indigenous breeds of South Africa. It is assumed they were developed more than 400 years ago from powerful canines such as Bullenbijter and Barenbijter dogs.
With such great ancestors, it’s no surprise they are one-of-a-kind dogs with unique temperaments. However, to make sure you get the best dog possible, you need to find reputable breeders who care about the dogs they are selling.
So, what are some of the finest Boerboel breeders in Australia? Let’s find out!
Boerboel Puppies For Sale In Australia
Finding the best Boerboel breeders in Australia is one of the most crucial parts of becoming a dog owner, especially if this is your first time owning these mighty dogs.
These are large herding dogs designed for cattle work. It’s no wonder the name Boerboel is the Afrikaans word for “farmer dog”!
There are lots of reasons why someone would get a Boerboel. Due to their dominant and confident personality, they are often used as guard dogs, as well.
Unfortunately, the combination of their natural affinity for territorial behavior and large size makes them challenging for novice owners, which is why many of these amazing dogs end up on the streets.
One of the reasons behind this is irresponsible breeders who sell their puppies to people who clearly don’t understand what it means to become a Boerboel owner. Not to mention the possible health and behavioral problems their pups might suffer from!
This shouldn’t concern you, however, as I am presenting you with the list of the seven best Boerboel breeders Australia has to offer.
Here’s who they are:
1. Black Diamond Boerboels
Chris and Belinda Lehn own Black Diamond, which produces healthy Boerboel puppies that meet the Australian Boerboel Inc. breed standard.
They mostly produce brindle and fawn Boerboels, originating from Ataxia and Dandaloo champion bloodlines.
Chris and Belinda treat their dogs like family members, so you know you can expect only the best from these pups.

2. Pine Ridge Boerboels
After Jim and Sharon Garoufalis purchased their first Boerboel Sherman, they knew they needed to share the love they have for the breed with others, and this is how Pine Ridge was born.
Pine Ridge Boerboels have more than a decade of experience in breeding these large canines.
They are members of the Australian Boerboel Society, and all of their pups are up to current health and temperamental standards.

3. Voss Boerboels
Voss Boerboels is a small breeder from Victoria. They breed Boerboels on their 8-acre property in Gippsland, giving them lots of space to roam freely.
Their goal is to breed to help generations of Boerboels by making sure all the dogs from their breeding program look the part, but also that they are free from health conditions such as hip dysplasia.
You can contact them via their social media, on the contact form on their website, or via a phone call.
Oh, and they ship worldwide!

Dootsy Boerboels is one of the newest additions to Boerboel Australia Inc., but don’t let this fool you. They are professionals who spend a lot of time making sure their dogs are of the best possible quality.
They breed fawn and brindle Boerboels and make sure all of their pups are according to the breed standard.

5. Ataraxia Kennels
If you’ve already heard of this name before, I wouldn’t be surprised. Ataraxia Kennels is the oldest Boerboel breeder in Australia.
Craig Bloom, the owner of the kennel, is Australia’s only Senior Appraiser and International Breed Specialist.
Next to breeding Boerboels, Ataraxia Kennels also focuses on educating people about this working dog breed and teaching first-time owners how to deal with the breed’s high drive and unique temperament.
This can be extremely helpful not only if you’ve never owned these large dogs, but also if you have a young child or other pets.
Many other breeders from this list breed dogs that come from Ataraxia bloodlines, and this should say a lot!
While they don’t have a website, you can contact them via email or social media.

6. Grootgeluk Boerboels
Grootgeluk Boerboels is an international breeder registered with Boerboel Australia Inc.
Located in the Netherlands, this breeder ships their dogs worldwide, and one of the most popular locations is – you’ve guessed it – Australia.
However, you might find them in many other countries, as well. If you’re looking for the best Boerboel breeders in Ontario, for example, I am certain someone will recommend Grootgeluk to you!
Yes, I know they are not technically an Australian breeder, but I just had to include them on this list due to their popularity. They are practically a household name for Boerboel fans in Europe!
All of their dogs come with a pedigree, and their dogs are used for breeding in kennels all around the world.
Unfortunately, they don’t have a website or social media profile, but you can contact them via email or phone call for more information.

7. Dandaloo Boerboels
Yet another household name, Dandaloo Boerboels is one of the largest names in Australia when it comes to this glorious breed.
They are the breeders of Dandaloo Mack, who might be the Boerboel with the largest offspring in Australia. He is also one of the most famous Boerboels worldwide!
They are registered breeders with Boerboel Owners Club Inc as well as SA Studbook. Also, they are members of the South African Boerboel Breeders Society (SABBS), something not many breeders can brag about.

Are Boerboels The Right Dogs For You?
There are so many good things about Boerboels that it’s challenging to be objective about these pups, but I’ll do my best.
One of the best things about this dog is its amazing temperament. While somewhat territorial and protective, they love their human owners with all their hearts. With proper socialization, they can be great with young children and other dogs alike.
Also, as mentioned before, they are incredible working dogs suitable for many different purposes. And if you’re looking for a family pet only – these pups are extremely affectionate and can create close bonds with their owners.
However, they are also large dogs that might not be the easiest to keep and feed. Just look at the Boerboel feeding chart to realize how much food you’ll need to keep them satisfied!
Also, they might not be the best choice for someone who isn’t experienced with large dog breeds. While mostly calm, they do require socialization, especially if you have other pets.
They also drool – a lot. If you or someone you live with has dog allergies, you might want to skip on this dog breed.
Not to mention the huge amount of space they need to thrive!
Despite all of this, if you have everything it takes to be the owner of such a large dog, I say go for it! There’s no dog with such a good heart, and I am certain you’ll fall in love with these canines just like I did.
Good luck in finding your new family companion!

Even as a young child, she fell in love with everything fluffy – but dogs have a special place in her heart due to her childhood companion, a Corgie named Archie.
Motivated by her experiences and driven by a desire to give back to her four-legged companions, she spends her free time volunteering at a local dog shelter.
