33 Pitbull Mixes That Fit Various Lifestyles (With Pictures)

The most loving dog breed in the world, the Pitbull, can come in various Pitbull mixes. Pit bulls are among the best dog breeds for new pet owners.

They are known as wonderful family dogs that can fit well into almost every environment. Their gentle nature is every dog owner’s dream.

On this website, we don’t tolerate prejudices about any kind of dog breed, including this one. As a person who has experience with dogs and their behavior in general, I can assure you that every dog breed can be a loving companion if raised as such.

The Pitbull breed is one of the most powerful guard dogs because they won’t hesitate to protect you and your family, and they care for you. They have great emotional intelligence; hence, they can sense danger and your emotions equally.

However, Pitbull mix breeds can be of a more introverted or even more extroverted personality, depending on the breed they mix the Pitbull parent with. For example, if you mix the Pit with a goofy Boxer, you will get an extroverted, happy dog.

But what happens when we mix them with the Chow Chow, known for being introverted, aloof, and distanced? We’ll see!

Let’s See These Pitbull Mixes

The Pitbull is a dog breed recognized by all of the known clubs and associations. The American Kennel Club (AKC) does not recognize this dog, but the United Kennel Club (UKC) does.

The American Staffordshire Terrier (AmStaff) and the Staffordshire Bull Terrier (Staffy) are the only breeds of Pitbulls that the AKC officially recognizes.

Like most other mixed breeds, the Pitbull mix breeds are not recognized by the American Kennel Club, United Kennel Club, or any other clubs of the same or close hierarchy. However, many associations recognize them but are not of the same value as AKC or UKC.

Even the world’s most popular mixed-breed dog, the Goldendoodle, is not yet recognized as a breed on its own. It takes a lot of time for a breed to get recognized and its standards to be unified.

The varieties of Pitbulls are numerous. Many have been deliberately crossbred to display the greatest qualities of the parent breeds. However, some may be the result of accidental crossbreeding.

These are a few of the most popular Pitbull mix breeds you may wish to learn more about!

1. Pitbull Boxer Mix

This cheerful mix can be a wonderful family member.

Among mixed breeds, Pitbull-Boxer mixes are among the most high energy level breeds. Their parents are goofy, energetic, and devoted to their families, making them excellent pets. But with this combo, there are a few things to be aware of.

They require involved families first. On their own, Boxers are renowned for being quite physically active. Because of this, unless you have enough space and/or take them to the park daily to run around, they’re not advised for apartment residents.

Most Boxer Pitbull mix dogs weigh between 50 and 80 pounds and are 16 to 20 inches tall. Pitbull boxers are prone to weight gain from overeating and may have hip dysplasia and cardiomyopathy.

2. Bull Mastiff Pitbull Mix

The wonderfully loyal and devoted Bull Pitbull is a joy for everyone.

Because of their high energy level, they require proper training and exercise, usually an hour a day. Additionally, the mix can be an excellent working dog.

The Bull Pitbull can be from 24 to 29 inches tall and weighs 100 to 150 pounds, making it a large dog breed. They have a few conditions that need to be monitored, including hip and elbow dysplasia, demodectic mange, and heart disease.

3. Cane Corso Pitbull Mix – Corso Bull

Cane Corso Pitbull Mix - Corso Bull

A huge dog with a tendency for child-like stubbornness and loving nature is the Corso Bull, also known as the Pit Corso, which is a cross between the Cane Corso and the Pitbull. They make great family dogs because of their affection for kids and guard-dog tendencies.

Early socialization is important since they can be suspicious of other pets.

The Cane Corso pit mix can grow to a height of 20 to 25 inches and a weight of 50 to 100 pounds. Awareness of the symptoms and indicators of bloat and eyelid anomalies is imperative.

However, this does not always have to be the case – they are usually very healthy. There are many other Cane Corso mixes you might want to check out later.

4. American Bulldog Pitbull Mix – Bull Pitbull

An American Bulldog Pitbull mix will be devoted and caring towards their family. They require regular exercise but get along well with their families and close friends and relatives of the family.

They have a strong personality and can be difficult to control, but they can be controlled with training and exercise. They have a smooth coat that does not need much maintenance.

They need early socialization to understand how to control their innate guard dog traits and prey drive.

The American Pitbull Terrier mix ranges from 18 to 26 inches tall and 40 to 100 pounds, making it a medium to large-sized dog breed.

5. Doberman Pitbull Mix – Dober Pit

Doberman Pitbull Mix - Dober Pit

This one is a more elegant version of a Pitbull that is as really obedient and intelligent. They are fast learners, thanks to the Doberman genes – they are known to be one of the most intelligent dog breeds.

Pitbulls are intelligent, too, but Dobermans tend to be more obedient. Therefore, this mix combines wonderful traits for a person with an active lifestyle who wants an obedient dog.

A Doberman Pinscher mixed with a Pitbull is a very perceptive puppy. Although the Doberman is generally friendly, accepting strangers may require training. They are delicate pups with sweet personalities who genuinely adore their families.

If you cross a Pitbull with a Doberman, you will have a puppy that typically weighs between 40 and 80 pounds and is between 22 and 28 inches tall.

6. Great Pyrenees Pitbull Mix – The Great Pyrebull

Great Pyrenees Pitbull Mix - The Great Pyrebull

Pitbulls and Great Pyrenees Mix dogs are good watchdogs since they might be suspicious of strangers. This mix will probably have a double coat inherited from the Pyrenees parent.

Every two days, you should brush and comb their coat. This grooming step will stop mats from forming.

They can come in various colors thanks to the Pitbull genetics. They can also be good working dogs because of Pyrenees genetics, and these dogs are used to being herding dogs.

7. Australian Shepherd Pitbull Mix – Australian Pitbull

Australian Shepherd pitbull mix

A friendly and energetic breed that would be happy to go wherever you go instead of staying at home is the Australian Shepherd Pitbull mix.

The Australian Shepherd Pit Bull mix has the potential to be frightened and hyperactive, but that can easily be managed with early socialization and training. To stop destructive activities like chewing and nibbling on everything because of anxiety is essential.

This puppy is between 17 and 23 inches in height and 30 and 85 pounds in weight, making it a medium- to large-sized pup.

Enjoying an active lifestyle? Say less!

For a German Pitbull to reach its full potential and to be correctly socialized, it requires the care of knowledgeable dog owners.

This hybrid can weigh anything from 40 to 90 pounds and ranges in height from 17 to 26 inches. A German Shepherd Pitbull mix may be prone to allergies and hip dysplasia, but with regular vet checks, I don’t doubt you’ll have this in control.

9. Malinois Pitbull Mix

malinois x pitbull mix

I don’t think there is a Pitbull mix breed on this list that craves more activity and attention as the Malinois Pitbull mix.

They are not for everyone. Their strong prey drive needs to be controlled appropriately, and there needs to be early socialization, starting as early as possible.

On the other hand, they will be highly obedient and be your shadow wherever you go.

10. Bull Terrier Pitbull Mix

Bull Terrier Pitbull Mix

They might inherit the Bull Terrier’s characteristic muzzle, but I cannot tell you that as a fact because with mixed dogs – you’ll never know what you are about to get!

Gentle enough to snuggle with you when you sleep and smart enough to detect dangerous situations to defend you – this is what the Bull Pit Mix is all about.

11. Chow Chow Pitbull Mix

chow chow x pitbull mix

The Pitbull is here to balance Chow Chow’s general unfriendly and lack of interest in engaging with almost everybody except their owners.

This dog needs socialization when it opens its eyes to minimize the Chow Chow’s aloofness. Also, say goodbye to the low-maintenance short coat. This dog will probably have a double coat that needs to be groomed regularly!

12. Akita Inu Pitbull Mix

pitbull x akita inu mix

A clever, self-reliant dog with a stubborn disposition will likely be produced by crossing an Akita Inu, or simply an Akita, with a pit bull. A fenced-in backyard or frequent visits to a dog park are essential because the mixed breed is highly athletic and energetic.

Akita pit puppies have a tendency to be dominating. Thus, training is essential to break this habit. Early socialization is also crucial.

Standing 16 to 22 inches in height and weighing between 30 to 65 pounds on average, this mix is a reasonably medium-sized dog. The mixed breed may also experience progressive retinal atrophy and cardiac problems in addition to hip dysplasia.

A mix similar to the previous one – the Labrador Retriever Pitbull mix is also a great addition to any type of family or an individual seeking the companionship of a furry friend.

This dog would do best if you have a pool or live near some kind of a body of water – a lake, river, or the seaside. They will absolutely adore being in the water! Probably even more than spending time with kids and family!

16. Newfoundland Pitbull mix

Furry, large, double-coated, and ready to guard you at any given time – the Pitfoundland can be an excellent choice for anybody living in a house with a huge yard or even a farm or a ranch.

For the Pitbull Newfoundland to be in optimal health, you must provide them with a healthy diet. Four to five cups of best dog food for an adult dog should be consumed daily, with special attention to protein-rich food.

The mixed breed may inherit the water-resistant double coat of the father Newfoundland breed. Brushing is more often for this kind of coat; two to three times a week is recommended.

17. Border Collie Pitbull Mix – Pit Collie

border coliie x pitbull mix

The bundle of joy and excitement, aka the Pit Collie, is an active mixed dog breed that needs loads of mental and physical stimulation.

These dogs are expected to be medium in size and smaller than the Pitbull since the Collie is tinier than the Pitbull.

They do best with dog owners who enjoy hiking, running, or playing fetch outside since they like to be active. They get along well with children and are intelligent and clever, but if left alone for extended periods of time, they may get into trouble because of anxiety.

18. Catahoula Pitbull Mix

Catahoula Pitbull Mix

The Catahoula Pitbull Mix is a cross with the desirable qualities of hunting and ranch dogs. Its hunting drive is not as strong because of the Pit parent, but there will be traces of it because of the Catahoula parent.

Its progenitors of this mix are naturally devoted to and affectionate toward their family members.

The Pitbull Catahoula Mix dog enjoys being active and on the go and responds well to praise and encouragement.

They are smart and willing to do anything you command them to!

19. Rhodesian Ridgeback Pitbull Mix

rhodesian x pitbull mix

We can agree that this mix would be a rare occasion to see because Rhodesian Ridgebacks are dogs you won’t see just walking around everywhere, like the Labs or Goldens.

However, the mixed breed in question will be a highly observant and intelligent dog that has a sense of protecting its owner and its family.

They won’t be for people who are not enjoying an active lifestyle because this dog will need loads of exercise!

20. Beagle Pitbull Mix

pitbull x beagle mix

If sniffing around could be a full-time job, the Beagle x Pitbull mix would be the employee of the year!

These happy dogs will be a great addition to the family environment, enjoying an active lifestyle, walking long distances daily, going for runs, and just playing as much as possible.

They can come in tri-color variants, combining the Beagle’s colors and the Pitbull parent colors.

21. Australian Cattle Dog

australian cattle dog x pitbull mix

These might just be some of the cutest puppies around.

But they have an extremely high activity level, combining the Cattle Dog’s restless spirit with a Pit Bull’s playful disposition. However, remember that Australian Cattle dog parents are working dogs and require a job or an activity they will do daily. And so will this pup.

We only suggest this cute mix if you have plenty of space where your Aussie Cattle Pit can run about for hours at a time.

22. Springer Spaniel Pitbull Mix – Springer Pit

springer x pitbull mix

The Springer Pit is a cross between a Pitbull and a Springer Spaniel. They enjoy playing with their owners and have a lot of energy.

This Springer Spaniel pit mix is very affectionate; leaving them alone will probably make them a bit anxious.

The Springer Pit is a medium-sized dog that typically stands 18 to 21 inches tall and weighs 35 to 50 pounds. Common health conditions this mix can often face are allergies.

23. Boston Terrier Pitbull Mix – Boston Pit

Boston Pit has the disposition of a cheerful, loving dog that is always ready for playtime. They make excellent family dogs because they get along well with children, but constant supervision, as with many dogs, is needed.

They weigh between thirty and fifty pounds and are small to medium in size. They are usually standing 17 to 20 inches tall. With this mix, you may have eye illnesses, lung problems, and skin allergies, among other health problems.

However, those usual health conditions might be avoided because of the Pitbull genes.

24. Cocker Spaniel Pitbull Mix – Bull Spaniel

Cocker Spaniel Pitbull Mix

Two of the Cocker Spaniel Pitbull Mix dogs’ favorite activities are playing with small children and cuddling on the couch. They shed moderately. To maintain their coat, it’s best to use a pin brush.

Their laid-back disposition makes them great working dogs. They are a rare breed with sleek hair and floppy ears.

This combination should weigh between 25 and 45 pounds and be 12 to 16 inches tall.

25. Great Dane Pitbull Mix – Great Danebull

great dane x pitbull mix

Searching for a big dog that enjoys being a lapdog? It sounds odd, but hear me out.

The Great Danebull is an excellent choice for people who love large dogs that are cuddly and needy. They weigh up to 90 pounds and stand around 28 inches tall. They love attention and pets, so don’t let their size deceive you.

They get along well with families and other pets. Just be aware that, if for no other reason than the possibility that they might trip over them due to their size, they can pose a slight threat to smaller animals and small kids.

26. Pitbull Dachshund Mix – Bull Dach

dashound x pitbull mix

You won’t see this mix often, but when you do… get ready for a cuteness overload!

A lengthy torso combined with a huge head creates an unusual yet adorable appearance. Dachshunds can have three different types of coats. Their coat can vary, and they might be a stubborn dog.

Dachshund x Pitbull mix will need moderate exercise, not as much as the Malinois mix. They will sometimes rather cuddle up with you.

27. Shih Tzu Pitbull Mix

Shih Tzu Pitbull Mix

This dog will enjoy entertaining kids and other family members.

They will be ‘prone’ to nibbling, so giving chew toys and playing catch with rewards will help you deal with mouthiness.

Since the Shih Tzu can occasionally be a bit nervous, I recommend socializing this dog breed as early as possible.

28. Boerboel Pitbull Mix

Boerboel Pitbull Mix

Maybe hidden somewhere at the end of the list, but not less important – the Boerboel Pit is the ultimate guard dog. Believe it or not, Boerboels are one of the largest dogs, not just in height but in width – they have muscular, powerful bodies.

These mixed dogs will be large, muscular, and powerful. However, don’t let their powerful looks fool you! They are gentle beings who love being cuddled and being around you.

29. Anatolian Shepherd Pitbull Mix – Pit Shepherd

Anatolian Shepherd Pitbull Mix - Pit Shepherd

Anatolians are huge dogs that have herding instincts, and Pits are gentle souls that are great guard dogs.

Mixing these two together, no matter if the Anatolian parent is male or female, will result in a beautiful working dog that will enjoy protecting your family, your heart, farm or property.

They will need to be a part of an active family because they have a lot of energy.

30. Rottweiler Pitbull Mix

rott x pitbull mix

The parent breeds are both strong and muscular.  Combining these two produces a dog that is intelligent, powerful, and full of energy. They are undoubtedly excellent family dogs!

Families with plenty of time to train them and ensure they receive plenty of exercise will see the finest results that are to wish for. Additionally, adults of this mix can weigh up to 100 pounds; it is ideal for owners to have prior experience with large breeds.

31. Pitbull Corgi Mix

Pitbull Corgi Mix

The offspring are a great match for future owners because the two parent breeds are already well-known for being affectionate pets. The Pitbull Corgi mix enjoys spending time with its family.

It enjoys being the center of attention and enjoying active times with its family. Young owners will like its silly personality. All things considered, it’s a charming and loving family companion.

32. Pitbull Husky Mix

Pitbull Husky Mix

Pitskies are often available in several color combinations and variations, including white, black, brown, grey, and brindle.

The majority of Pitskies are kid-friendly and devoted to their families. Some Pitskie pups may naturally be fearful or mean toward other animals, but early socialization and training can help them overcome these tendencies.

33. Pitbull Alaskan Malamute Mix

Pitbull Alaskan Malamute Mix

Due to their innate independence, Alaskan Pit Bulls occasionally crave solitude. They possess a strong pack instinct as well.

This dog will take charge if you don’t show yourself as the leader. Therefore, it’s crucial you set yourself as a leader.

Most dog breeds, including Alaskan Pit Bulls, require early socialization. If not, the puppies will become aloof from people and other canines as they age. Save yourself the hassle and socialize your puppies well because it is hard to socialize an adult dog.
